An investment class aiming to address climate challenges and deliver attractive commercial returns.

Global momentum to address challenges of population growth, food security, biodiversity protection and climate change has resulted in the emergence of a new investment class – Natural Capital.

Our thematic investment approach seeks to enable institutional investors to commercially benefit from these long-term trends, and help them achieve their own ESG commitments, through a QIC-managed Natural Capital capability.

We have established a Natural Capital capability, aiming to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns while having a positive influence on the environment.

The platform invests in commercial farming assets in Queensland, such as livestock and cropping, as well as environmental market projects to deliver stacked agricultural returns from exposure to carbon credits, biodiversity offsets and reef credits.

Given our sovereign heritage, we have the relationships and capability to identify and develop these Natural Capital investment opportunities at scale.

Harvesting Natural Capital

From Climate Action 100+ to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the number of global commitments, targets and pledges we need to report on is growing.

Our white paper explores how this new asset class is designed, the critical role it can play in addressing climate change, and how institutional investors can capitalise.

Natural Capital assets

While nature-based solutions are required at scale, investment opportunities for institutional investors are scarce.

Our people

We have a specialist Natural Capital investment team with deep agricultural and real asset experience through several market cycles. Our team can meet the investment opportunities and risks related to this new asset class.
