James Esland joined QIC’s State Investments (SI) team in September 2023. James is an Investment Director reporting directly to Allison Hill the State Chief Financial Officer. James has responsibility for the Long Term Diversified Fund as well as Responsible Investing across the SI business.
James is a portfolio manager with over 16 years' experience in investment management and financial markets. He has a broad multi-asset background including Absolute Return Investing, SAA/TAA, through to innovative fund design and launch. James joined QIC in August 2022 and moved from our Liquid Markets Group to the State Investments team in September 2023.
James started his career at Citi before spending over a decade at Standard Life Investments, which later merged with Aberdeen (now abrdn). James has an MA(hons) in Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh and is a CFA Charterholder.
