Why QIC?

QIC combines the career challenge of working for a national organisation that is amongst the leaders in its field with a range of employee benefits that are aimed at creating a healthy work-life balance.

Career development

QIC believes strongly in employee development and works hard to provide opportunities for you to learn new skills and achieve your career goals. Integral to this is our formal Performance Management Program where performance and career targets are set, and developmental areas are identified. We run an extensive training calendar aimed at all levels of staff. Sessions are provided in-house or with our preferred providers and include industry specific workshops, leadership programs, communication skills seminars and PC application skills workshops.

We also encourage staff to learn and develop as part of the external investment and professional services industry. Many of our staff are members of external industry groups. They present and contribute to industry forums and participate in external committees. QIC staff members are associated with industry groups such as the Investment and Financial Services Association (IFSA), Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA), Securities Institute of Australia (SIA), Chartered Institute of Accountants (CA) and Women in Super.

Benefits and rewards

The people at QIC work hard to deliver the products and services that our clients value. In return, QIC works hard to ensure its people benefit from the relationship through attractive rewards and lifestyle initiatives.

Rewards can mean different things to different people. You may be interested in ways to improve your after tax salary position, or it may be more important for you to have extra time with family members. In addition to offering competitive, market-based salaries, we aim to give staff something extra under our LifeBalance program.

The LifeBalance program broadly incorporates the following concepts:

  • Health - healthy mind, healthy body and a healthy outlook on work and life.

  • Wealth - we all want to make the most of our financial rewards to meet our lifestyle choices. QIC offers a number of options to enable you to use your Total Package to good effect and services to help you meet your wealth goals.

  • Wisdom - one of our great things about working for QIC is the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge as a member of a professional and highly regarded team. We provide ongoing opportunities for you to maintain and develop your skills through conferences, professional memberships and study.

  • Celebration - it's not just work and more work at QIC. We coordinate various activities in recognition of the effort that employees put into their day-to-day roles.
The specifics initiatives we offer include:

  • Flexible working arrangements including part-time employment, working from home with our state of the art remote access capabilities, paid parental leave (adoption, paternity and maternity) and salary sacrificing for extra annual leave

  • Flexible salary packaging including motor vehicles, car parking, personal laptops, notebooks or palm pilots, and superannuation

  • Health & Wellbeing Program aimed at providing a safe and healthy work environment and assisting staff in managing their own health and reducing risk. We offer discounted rates to a number of local gyms/health clubs and support a variety of staff sporting teams. Health assessment and lifestyle activities are also run regularly

  • Financial planning services to assist with planning investment strategies and obtaining advice on issues such as taxation, social security, reasonable benefit limits, voluntary contributions, spouse contributions and estate planning

  • A good range of social functions

  • Study support opportunities.

Working in Queensland

Those who work at our Brisbane head office have the best of both worlds: all the benefits of working for one of Australia's largest funds managers (with the global perspective and connections you'd expect from an industry leader) and the many attractions of living in Queensland.

Over the past ten years, Brisbane has become a vibrant capital with cultural and leisure facilities that now rank amongst the best in the country. Those who have moved from the southern states to join QIC are usually delighted with Brisbane's particular mix of relaxed lifestyle, warm climate, lower living costs, and family-friendly opportunities.

We may be able to help with relocation costs for top professionals who join us for key positions.
